Aaron Thomas Hinds
Painter, Author, Maker
I am Aaron Thomas Hinds, a lifelong artist hailing from Tyler, Texas. From my earliest memories, I’ve been drawn to the world of art, with a passion that remains unwavering. My artistic journey led me to study landscape architecture in college, but it was a transformative experience during a study abroad program in Castiglion Fiorentino, Italy at the Santa Chiara study center that crystallized my desire to pursue a career as a professional artist, particularly in the realm of oil painting which I learned rrom Italian Master Pallo Barucchieri.
After completing my studies, I ventured to Manhattan, New York in pursuit of artistic opportunities. Fate led me to the New York Mercantile Exchange, where I was present during the tragic events of September 11th, narrowly escaping the disaster. In the aftermath, my desire to contribute positively compelled me to paint a powerful tribute to the heroes of that day, titled “Ode to Heroes,” a piece that now resides in the Museum of the City of New York.

My favorite painters include all the impressionists, Pollock, Dali, Bosch, Bruegel, Audubon and Michael Angelio. Other interests include furniture and lighting design/build, created as functional sculptures made from a variety of repurposed material and scrap wood. I’ve also written a 225 page novel called, “Wayfarers,” based on John Byonuns 16th century classic “Pilgrim’s Progress.”
Despite challenges in finding suitable gallery space in East Texas, I established my own art gallery in 2022, the Aaron Thomas Hinds Fine Art Gallery, where I featured my collection, “The Life That Changed The World.” I also exhibited my series “Orinthology,” which was inspired by John James Audubon and my series “Exoskeletal Mega Cities” that included three dimensional wall mounted sculptures symbolizing the future of urban design. I also hosted several other local artists for exhibits that attracted hundreds of people to the gallery.
Following gallery closure in 2024, I reached out to some other professional East Texas artists to build a collective, the Tyler Fine Art Gallery, with goals to help all of us exhibit and sell art, and to establish Tyler as a hub for high quality fine art.
