Meditation, contemplation, a quiet mindful breath, prayer. Whatever you’d want to call it my process begins with making space. Emptying my mind not of self or ego but of all of the busy thoughts and distractions from the I AM that I am in the here and now.
The intent is to be in the now so whole heartedly as to invite a dialogue with all that is present. That could be the environment in which I am seated. It could be the lingering subconscious message of whatever information I most recently consumed.
At it’s most earnest, its an attempt to hear or see just a glimpse of the ineffable. To experience the awe of being without filter nor catalyst.
It’s those fleeting moments that propel me to the work of translating artistically; not what’s been sought but received. From where, whom, or what exactly I leave to the viewer to interpret, accept, or reject.
